SPECIES: Barn Owl.
APPEARANCE: Ekaterina is a pale, long-winged, long-legged owl with a short squarish tail. She measures at about 16 inches in overall length, with a wingspan of 42 inches. Her face is light with its heart shape and black eyes. Her head and upper body are a dark grey (especially on her forehead and back). She has fine black-and-white speckles. Her heart-shaped face is bright white. Her under sides are white and bear a light smattering of tiny blackish-brown speckles. Her bill is a dark buff, corresponding to her general coloring. Rina's iris are blackish brown. Her toes, as the bill, are a dark pinkish grey. Her talons are black.

THE HUMAN HALF
APPEARANCE: Rina is tall, not extremely so, but 5'10 and weighs 156 pounds. She has sun kissed tanned skin, which becomes paler during the winter when she isn't in the sun all the time. She has long legs that are defined and muscled, like that of a long distance track runner. Her arms are toned and of proportionate length to her body, and her body is a bit like an hourglass shape, with curves, her breasts are fully developed and aren't overly big, but not small either. Her posture is great, and she always tends to walk with a sort of sway as if she is walking down a runway. Rina has elbow length Platinum blonde hair that is thick and lustrous. Her eyes are a very pale green, and lighten or darken depending on her mood, for example, good emotions such as happiness and amusement, very pale. Bad emotions such as anger or pain, very dark, almost black depending on how bad they are. When she is fighting her eyes go completely black.

Rina has a tattoo of a dragon that starts with its head on her left shoulder and ends with its tail dipping just below the waistline on her right hip. She has a tattoo of a Celtic band around her ankle. Her ears are pierced twice on each side, one on the lobe of her ear and the other in her cartilage, towards the top. Usually Rina keeps a gold stud in the top piercings, and wears more dangly type earrings on the lower piercings.

PERSONALITY: Rina is determined, and when she starts something, she finishes it, regardless of the consequences. Her determination is matched only by her loyalty to her friends. She is very protective of the things she owns, because of her tendency to lose that which is closest to her. Rina tends to be more withdrawn from the events around her. She keeps her heart closed to everyone, instead adopting a formal, if archaic, way towards others, extremely polite and eloquent, using words to give people the semblance of warmth and friendliness. She loves children, and being around them is one of the very rare times she opens her heart, and one day she wants children of her own, but she knows that will most likely never happen.

BACKGROUND
HISTORY: Ekaterina grew up in a well off family, with a twin brother. She was happy, ignorant, naive, for some time, maybe years, in fact, until one day she came across an old man, dying of some disease that was foreign to her, and she tried to help, only to have him die, minutes later. Needless to say, the man had been living on the street, and was, as her parents would say, below their notice. That day changed her, and she became involved in her community, doggedly following the healers around with an eager disposition for learning, and learn she did. After discovering her ability for healing, she became an apprentice to a well-known and well liked healer, and learned all she could from him. Rina's parents, however, disagreed with what she was doing with her life, calling it unladylike, even as her brother went off and joined the ranks of the warriors. She went on to join the ranks of healers as one of them and set to learning more of medicine and healing every chance she got, and soon became pretty well known, not only for her talent but for her gentle, compassionate wisdom. Her thirst for knowledge is never ending, and she isn't picky about what she learns. Her parents continued to disagree over the years and finally withdrew from her life except for the occasional visits on holidays, where the family would sit together and eat in cold silence.
