THE BASICS NAME: Karin Salomon ALIAS: Very few identify her as Kari AFFILIATION: Caldo RANK: Hunter GENDER: Female AGE: 27 SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
THE ANIMAL HALF SPECIES: Mexican Wolf APPEARANCE: As a wolf, Karin stands fairly small and lithe. Her fur is tipped golden, though the undercoat of her fur is an off-white tone. Her physique is built for speed and not brute force, made for dodging attacks and making quick ambushes without full-frontal contact. Her ears and muzzle are long and narrow, and her coat is fairly short, much like that of a coyote. REFERENCE: CLICK
THE HUMAN HALF APPEARANCE: Karin's human appearance is much like that of her wolf's. In stature, she is lithe and stands an average 5' 5" tall. Her slender body is made up of entirely lean muscle, which makes her quite capable of packing a surprising punch. There are no secrets in her appearance; her face is angular yet soft, her eyes are a piercing and defiant goldenrod hue. Most often, her slim lips are pulled into a frown, though arrogant smiles are almost as common. She keeps her blonde hair cropped short in the back, where it reaches an inch at the longest, but towards the front of her skull, her bangs reach to her chin in length. Despite keeping it short for low maintenance, her hair is often still an unruly mess when she comes back from hunting.
Of clothing styles, Karin wears tight clothes and refuses to wear jewelry. Most of her wardrobe consists of tight breeches with scattered holes and patches along her knees, and her shirts fair very much the same. Many of her shirts once had sleeves, but in her impatience with the new desert climate, she's hacked a great deal of them off. It is rare to see her wearing shoes, presently, but once the winter strikes, she had an old pair of lace-up black boots that reach almost up to her knees that she can wear over her breeches. IN DEPTH COVERAGE PERSONALITY:Karin was once an outsider amongst her outgoing, peaceful land, though in present-day, her personage has helped her fit in much better. She is neither outgoing nor overtly friendly, and she has never been one for seeking out friendship. She spends most of her time with her occupation, using any excuse that she can to escape the confines of a home and solid ground. Her occupation allows her to ventilate her short temper and violent nature. Upon meeting her, one would find she is terse and not one for small talk, and it isn’t rare for her to be unashamedly rude. She is loyal to the few that she’s managed to hold on to, but for the most part she avoids commitment whether it be friendship or otherwise. Unfortunately, Karin did inherit the old Lightning Tribe's common bluntness. She's fairly honest, but her opinions are often on the verge of being pessimistic.
Karin does have a playful side though. Should one capture the moment, most would probably see it has hostility, but to Karin she is just having fun. She enjoys a good chase or skirmish, or even a true duel to test her abilities. If she is comfortable, it is not uncommon to see her flirt and joke. To say she is always an annoyance to be around would be false. Her sense of humor is rather well-set, and her confidence gives her an air of disregard. She enjoys finding a person she gets along with, but is prone to running away for fear of attachment. Those she finds out in her wanderings have a much better chance than reaching her true personality than those of mandatory events within the kingdom.
Once one has managed to reach the inner chambers of her mind, Karin is quite the friend to keep. She is unendingly loyal and trusting, and she'll defend those she cares for with her life. Few have ever managed to reach this level of friendship with her, but none have ever regretted the effort it took to reach there. Though she may be talented at hiding it, Karin eventually would like to find a select few people whom she can trust to settle down with and live the life of a fairly normal person. Before that can ever be attained, she will have to come to terms with her own insecurities that she locks deep inside herself.
----
Since the war, Karin has become more trusting of the people around her. She has grown a great respect for those who fought in the number of battles that eventually led to retreat. Her arrogance has somewhat quieted, and she dedicates what time she has to bettering the Kingdom of Caldo in its young years. Now that her tribe of old has combined with the strong tribe of Fire, her loyalty has skyrocketed, and she will see to it that the Kingdom thrives with all of her power. She has matured now, and perhaps come into a more womanly appearance. She can be nurturing, now, and she is more willing to lend a helping hand to a stranger. Her commitment problems have also greatly diminished, now that all she has left is a small, close-knit family all trying to survive together.
STRENGTHS: Physical strength and reflexes, quick judgment that keeps her out of trouble, honesty, patience, and her independent nature WEAKNESSES: Distrustful, impulsive, her short temper, insecurities of her personality faults, and pessimism FEARS: Commitment, losing someone she truly cares for, losing another war, and the downfall of Caldo DESIRES: To see to it that Caldo flourishes, and to find some stability in this chaotic world. WEAPONS: Multiple knives she keeps on her person at all times. She keeps a single dagger in particular at her hip at all times. ELEMENT: Lightning SECONDARY POWER: Though not a power, her years in hunting have taught her the skills of masking her scent so she can travel without others sensing her.
BACKGROUND HISTORY: Karin’s distant history is nothing significant. Both of her parents were previous hunters of the old Lightning tribe and taught her their skills early on in her life. Because of their passion in their occupation, Karin became obsessed with strengthening her skills as a hunter and left the social life of Lightning behind. She spent her entire childhood working towards making her parents proud, but their fickle nature caused them to overlook her efforts. Once they had both passed on, Karin became more secluded than she already had been and became more cynical towards the persona of her own tribe.
All of this became words on the breeze when the Great War came. Karin had been contemplating leaving the old Lightning tribe for a while, but the sudden burst of hostility made her come back to Lightning to help fight alongside her own people. Though only a Hunter, she set aside her hunting knives and bows and lifted knew weapons to kill the enemy. She spent much of the time up in the trees, picking off scouts or those who had retreated from the field. She had never realized until the Fire and Lightning tribe began their retreat just how much she truly cared for her people. To watch thousands of them die broke the impulsive, secluded, arrogant child inside of her. She retreated with the rest of them, as ashamed as the rest, for a retreat meant the same as defeat.
The coming together of the two tribes was one of the best decisions Karin had ever seen a higher power make. With the birth of a new Kingdom, Karin became fiercely loyal to her new people. She took the time to get to know many of the people who survived, and she even set down her weapons all-together to help nurse some of the severely wounded back to health. Since then, Caldo has grown into a strong, young empire, and Karin looks to her new family fondly. She returned to her profession as Caldo's most-skilled hunter, as she was uninterested in becoming one of the members of the new hierarchy. Her old ways have come back to her, for the most part, but a new sort of person stirs within her heart now, and she's not quite come to terms with it yet.
