"And the days they all turn black... And our dreams all start to fade. But there's no turning back.
Vivi was a bit of a nerd. The first time she had heard that word directed at her, she hadn’t understood it, and promptly asked her parents when she went home. Someone that was overly smart, then? The girl was good with that, even if it carried some ‘negative connotations’. After all, she didn’t decide to display her knowledge unless someone was wrong, and then shouldn’t they be happy? They could’ve not known that they knew the wrong information, and then they could’ve been corrected by a meany-butt who would’ve rubbed it in their faces!
People didn’t like it, though, so she got called a ‘nerd’ more, and a ‘geek’. Still, the girl took to the words with a shine, and was totally okay with hearing them, often gaining a big smile on her face when insulted in that way. It often unnerved the fellow children trying to tease her, and they eventually stopped. Win-win for everyone, right? Vivi and Evan certainly thought so, and weren’t above a bit of back-patting for their awesome manipulative skills.
For all of her trying to get rid of those negative words, just because she didn’t like the teasing itself, not the words, Vivi lived up to the definition, quite easily. She was always the reader, and often knew far too much about things that she shouldn’t, which did often lead to neglect in areas that she probably should know. With her parents gone, and her guardians having virtually no control over the child, it meant that no one could really correct her, and so she continued to run free and wreak havoc in her brain with the amount of knowledge that she should have. Still, her guardians at least tried to have a modicum of control over Vivi, so she had to be sneaky sometimes.
This was one of those times. As usual, she had completely left her guardians choking in her dust, and Vivi was off merrily on one of her little adventures, alone besides Evan. He strolled alongside the skipping girl, hands in pockets as they traversed the beautiful marble library, with books, books, so many books! It was almost heaven for the little girl (Heaven would require her parents to be alive and for Evan to be able to be seen and talk), and she was almost ready to sprint up and down the hallways, joyous and bright, but Evan held her back, finger on his lips. Yes, right, they had to be quiet. She probably was breaking some rules, or something… She was always doing something or other.
Deciding that maybe it would be best to remain put, the brunette plopped down on the floor, smoothing her red dress around her as she scanned the bottom row of books, before pulling out the biggest book on there. She almost fell over backwards from the weight, and inadvertently let out a bit of a squeak at its weight. Vivi managed to stay upright, though, dropping the book on her lap (wincing slightly as the hard cover slapped her thighs through her dress), and opening it to the first page. This looked… really hard and really complicated.
Fantastic! A challenge!

Sitting on his perch, Fable was scribing down for once, not a war story, or some epic tale, but of all things a comedy of burring owl that his father told him when he was a young owlet. Pausing a second as that went though his mind chuckling and howling a bit at himself. Thinking to himself I should start making plans for going home in by next summer. Letting out a sigh of happiness and continuing writing down the tail, before hearing what sounded a book being dropped in this nearly empty library.
branching up to the top of the book stand he made his perch behind he looked over the bottom floor of the library, seeing a young girl with a rather large book. Puffing up a curious grunt he glided down next to the young girl looking at the cover of the book. "The Study of The Northern Mountain Ranges of Tyrgere" Moving his eyes from under the book to the eyes of the young girl. "Looking for a bit of heavy reading are you?" Puffing up and cocking his head to simulate a smile.
Fable himself only read a part of that book, he was more fascinated with the mountains of Aver and the similar aspects it had to his home's mountains.

"And the days they all turn black... And our dreams all start to fade. But there's no turning back.
…Okay, so maybe this was a bit too much of a challenge. Ignoring Evan’s ‘I-told-you-so’ look (he had totally not told her so!), Vivi found herself struggling through a book on mountains of all things. Why would someone write a book on mountains? It seemed kind of stupid… Yet she had picked this book off of the shelf and dug her own grave, so she would attempt to muddle through it (though ‘through’ was a bit of an exaggeration, considering she had barely made it through the first page and was only on the second). Besides, it was really heavy, and she wasn’t sure she could lift it off of her lap and put it back on the shelf, even with Evan’s help.
Trying to puzzle how exactly the word ‘stress’ applied to mountains (wasn’t that when you got tired and cranky and got a major headache?), Vivi was only alerted to the presence of another by the clacking of talons on the floor of the library. Whoops, Evan had been trying to get her attention to tell her about the bird. Oh well, he was an owl! Cool! Blinking in surprise as the other spoke to her (he wasn’t gonna get mad at her or nuthin’?), Vivi nodded, a smile lighting up her face. “Yep! I wanna a hard book, an’ this ‘un is really hard!” She told him, feeling like she should be swinging her feet as she said that sentence, yet unable to. Weird.
Ooh, wait, wasn’t she supposed to introduce herself? You can’t talk to people (or owls, in this case), without telling them their name! ‘Sides, it was always weird, talking to someone when you didn’t have a name to go with their face. Vivi never really liked. “’M Vivi,” the girl spoke up, before jerking her thumb at her imaginary friend. “An’ tha’s Evan, m’ best friend.” He puffed up slightly at that, and the little girl promptly stuck out her tongue at him, before returning her attention to the owl, tilting her head curiously to the side as she asked a question. “Ya lookin’ fo’ books, too?” He had to be, because why else would he be there? But…
Maybe he was a spy from another country, gathering super secret information so an attack could be launched against them! Maybe he was secretly royalty, touring the kingdom and seeing who was naughty and nice and all that! Hm, what else could he be? Possibilities, possibilities…

Fable let out a light chuckle, At the young girl's reply. "No I've gone though many of these books already, at least the history ones." Pausing and trotting over to the side of the little girl "I write books mainly, old tales and hymns from my home land." Letting out a sigh as once again his mind was set to home. "However they might be a little to heart wrenching for a young mind and heart as you. Apart from the one I'm working on now." (which I really am =p)
Trying to change to subject and find this young mind a entertaining book he branched up on the nearby table studying the wall of books, trying to sort out which one she might like. "What do you like?, adventures, tales of old, history? There's so many good writings here."

"And the days they all turn black... And our dreams all start to fade. But there's no turning back.
Vivi blinked, slightly surprised, at his laugh. Had she said something funny…? Running quick back through the statements she had made, and even her expressions, the little girl didn’t think she had said or done anything that would make someone else laugh (‘Cept for Evan, but he had a weird sense of humor), unless he thought her sticking out her tongue at Evan was funny… But didn’t adults usually tell her not to stick out her tongue? Haha, it was probably just because he was a cool Owl that he didn’t say anything! Owls were neato~.
Her mouth forming a small ‘o’ at his answer, she tilted her head to the side, curious. “Tha’s a lotta books. Are ya gonna read ‘em all?” Ooh, she should make that her goal! That’d be wickedly awesome, yup! Deciding to tell Evan later about her cool new goal, when she wasn’t talking to a sweet Owl, Vivi’s eyes widened as he continued. “Ya write?” she exclaimed, finding this information both surprising and exciting. Ooh, wait, he was from another place! “Where ya from, Mistah Writah Owl?” Vivi asked, finding this fascinating. From another place! So cool!
And could she read any of his works? …Aw, no… “Ya sure I kenna read any?” the little girl asked, slightly dismayed. “I ken deal wif sad stuff!” That was what heart wrenching meant, right? Unless he meant pulling a heart out, or hitting it with a wrench or something… Ew, gross, hopefully not.
Finding it fascinating the way the Owl moved about, Vivi was sure that she would’ve sat there, staring at him with awe written on her face forever (with Evan making faces at her back for the heck of it), ‘cept for the fact that he asked her a question. Maybe it was good he asked her the question, too, cause she probably would’ve looked really stupid. “Hm…” It was hard to think about, because she honestly didn’t have a genre, more like a specific taste… “I like stuff wif girls leadin’ the way an kickin’ butt, an’ stuff that’ll never ever happen in a billion gazillion years, an’… stuff tha’s got a happy endin’.” Definitely the latter. People needed happy endings fo’ sure.

Letting out a small chuckle, still scanning and thinking of a challenging yet entertaining book, out of the possible thousands of books here "Read them all? no, although that would be amazing." Branching back down to her heels he looked up at the young girl and thought to himself. "She's young, and a thirst for knowledge, heh...reminds me of myself when I was young."
Then she asked the question he hated answering the most, but it's unlikely this little girl would care or even know anyone that could threaten him, apart from that black tyto he let go with one of his books. Even then that owl didn't seem a threat. Shrugging off his worry he replied as best he could in a way she could understand. "I'm from the west, past the great ocean, in a land quite a bit different from this place. My home, the kingdom of Everia, is a mid sized kingdom that boarders the coast and is famous for our own library and knowledge base similar to this one. But not as many books, not even half as many I can guess. hmmm what else...ah, I'm a Luion horned owl, or more commonly called a Storm owl." Pausing a moment and thinking "Wait, I forgot to introduce myself" Laughing at himself and shaking his head, "My names Fable, and it's a great pleasure to meet you Vivi."
(soooooo many questions =Q........... ^^ love it)
Closing the book with his head and jumping ontop of it "As for my books, I'd rather not let a young soul read them, their a bit....to mature for your age, however the one I'm working on now is rightly suited for your age!, it might take a few more weeks but I'll be sure to get it done soon." Puffing up and scratching his beak "so let see about a book for you"

"And the days they all turn black... And our dreams all start to fade. But there's no turning back.
Really? Amazing? “Imma gonna do it!” Vivi announced, her decision finalized now that the owl had pronounced it ‘amazing’. If it was amazing, and would be really cool, to do, she would try and do it, if only for the challenge. Wait, try? Why would she just try? Vivi was totally gonna read all the books here! Completely!
Her mouth formed an ‘o’ as she listened to him speak, her face lighting up as she responded. “Ya home sounds cool, Mistah Owl!” Vivi told him delightedly, tucking that bit of information away. Everia, huh? She didn’t think she had heard of it, but she didn’t spend much time reading books on geography and stuff. Maybe she should… Marking that down on her mental to-do list, because it was always worthwhile to get more knowledge, always, the girl tilted her head to the side as he explained what kind of owl he was, her forehead crinkling slightly. “Why ya called a Storm Owl?” the little girl asked, trying to puzzle that one out as she frowned slightly. “Ya like storms, o’ somethin’? O’ ken ya control ‘em?” It seemed kind of preposterous, but… Who knew, honestly. Someone being able to control storms was not the most far-fetched thing that she had heard.
Briefly, for a moment, she debated asking the other why he had come here, instead of staying at his cool-sounding home, but that thought slipped away as the other introduced himself. “Um… ah… Pleasah to meet ya too, Mistah Fable!” Pleasure to meet you? Huh, people usually said ‘nice to meet you’, or something less formal… But that sounded cool! She was totally gonna try and use that from then on, whenever she remembered to! It’d be cool, with people being so surprised at such big and formal words coming from a little girl! Perfect!
Mature? Vivi tipped her head to the side again, her ‘thinking pose’, trying to figure that one out. Fighting and icky blood and stuff didn’t bother her, and was in the books that she read, so that couldn’t be what he meant by mature… Ooh, maybe like kissing and the junk that she thought was kind of gross and tried to avoid whenever she was reading? That could be it… Either way, she wouldn’t push anymore. He probably knew. “Ken I read ya book when ya finish it?” Vivi asked curiously, mentally crossing her fingers. That’d be cool, to read a book that someone you knew wrote! Awesome!
However, his next comment made her blink in surprise. “Get a book fo' me?” she questioned, frowning slightly and attempting to slightly lift the book on her lap. Sadly, it didn’t budge. Stupid book. “I got ‘un already…” Vivi perked up, though, a thought flickering over her mind. “O’ do ya know a really good ‘un?”

"So many questions" He thought to himself, He enjoyed it though, she isn't a owl, but Fable didn't really mind. The fact is he was finally doing something more productive than reading or writing, mostly. "well no we can't control storms, we just have a natural interest in them, studying them more or less." Flying up to the shelf and looking and the binds "ah here we go" Taking it off the shelf carefully getting a full grip with both talons before lifting it off the shelf. How he had to deal with these books, they were heavier and far bigger than the one's back home.
Landing it on the book and dusting off the cover with a swipe of his right wing. "The Animals of The Great Island, it's one of the first ones I read when I got here." Flipping up the cover and going though the first page "I've never found the author though, it's been driving me insane." Hopping up and moving out of the way for her to look at it. "Something not as hard as a book on mountains but still fairly challenging for someone your age."
The book contained all matters of animal species and types, from the mountains to the deserts of Caldo. Most of them with a small sketch or at very least very descriptive. "took me about a week to go though that, but alas, I've never seen half the species this place has to offer. Same goes to my home land."

"And the days they all turn black... And our dreams all start to fade. But there's no turning back."
Ooh, so that was it. Vivi’s mouth formed an ‘o’ of understanding. “Why d’ya like storms so much?” she asked inquisitively, tipping her head to the side. Maybe it was a generic thing, like why she liked knowing things and why Evan liked teasing her, but it could be because there was some cool thing about storms that she didn’t know, and it would be very super cool. After all, while the lightning was pretty, the lightning hurt her ears, and if she was all alone without even her best friend to comfort her, it scared her. She didn’t see why anyone would want to study them, unless they were trying to prevent them.
…And that was a very good idea. Maybe she should try to learn how to do that?
Patiently, she waited for him to get whatever book he had found, finally able to push the heavy mountain book off of her lap, though it made a large noise that echoed a bit, making her wince and pray there was no one else there. With that settled, however, (although Evan kept trying to get her to put it back) she could get on her knees, instead, peering inquisitively at the book Mr. Fable had. It looked neato!
Giggling slightly at his comment on the author, she began to flip through it, simply looking at the pictures and the names of the creatures, not fully reading it (…yet). She had had no idea that there were so many creatures living here in Tyrgrere! There were tons! “Thassa lotta an’mals!” she told the other, voicing her thoughts with wide eyes. “Dinna think there were so many n’ da world!” Wow! It was amazing!
As he confided in her that little tidbit, Vivi nodded, understanding. “Ya’d haveta look really hard ta see ‘em all.” That bit of information made her pause, and she offered up her guess on the author. “Maybe d’ats why ya can’t find who wrote tit! Bet iss a lotta people tergether!” It would make sense! How else could there be so many animals in this book? Too many for one person, for sure!
A thought occurred to the young girl, and she pausing in her browsing of the pictures. “Doessa book have oncillas?” Vivi asked, hopeful look in her eyes. “’Cuz thass me!”

Smiling and looking up at the curios eyes of the young girl. "No we don't control them, we just study them. We don't have any special abblities with them. Well I take that back, not to brag but I do, I'm a legend of flying thew anything this world has thrown at us so far. Blizzards, thunderstorms, I've been threw the worst, and I enjoyed ever second of it!" Chuckling, he got ahead of himself but for once he wasn't worried about being dragged somewhere.
He just looked at the young mind blow threw some pages, before she answered his own question "Hmmm I've never thought of that, would make sense for how vast the information is in it." He smiled at her question. "Maybe, not sure, I've only paid attention to the avians."
lol I'm having a hard time coming up with stuff for this rp XD

"And the days they all turn black... And our dreams all start to fade. But there's no turning back."
The owl’s words made Vivi listen intently, her head tilted to the side and her lips parted slightly as she soaked in all of his information, the knowledge whirling around in her head as the girl processed it, understanding. “Learnin’ stuffs cool, too,” she informed him, nodding as she did so. While being able to control the storms or having powers over them would be epically awesome, of course, learning was always fun, so she understood that. Still, would’ve been cool if he did…
However, his next statement made her frown slightly. “Yer a legen’?” Vivi asked, skepticism coloring her tone. “How come I neber heard o’ ya afore?” That didn’t make much sense… After all, weren’t the point of legends that a bajillion people had heard of them, so the story was passed on and on and on? Was there another meaning for the word? Cause that was the only one that she knew, from when she had seen the word used, and that really didn’t make much sense…
Ah, well. Easily perking up, Vivi let off a few more questions, a smile reappearing on her face as she talked. She liked talking. Hard not to smile when she was doing so. “Wha’ wassit like?” the girl asked inquisitively, trying to imagine flying (it in general!) through snowstorms, and normal storms, and thunder storms, and all that jazz. Sounded adventurous and awesome! “Sounds cool ta go trough all da storms…”
Ooh, he thought her idea was good? That made her perk up, cause he was a scholar and did this junk for a living and all that, so wow it was surprising that he thought she was good with it! “Ya think?” she questioned excitedly, beaming ear to ear. Vivi always liked genuine compliments, as she didn’t get them often (more because she didn’t talk to people aside from asking questions), so it was a real treat, for her!
Face falling slightly as he proclaimed that he didn’t know, the girl flipped through the book, heading to the mammals/felines, and happened across a picture of an Oncilla, stopping herself from turning the page just in time. “Look!” she announced, pointing proudly at the picture. “Thass me!” Wait, no, that wasn’t entirely true. “Na’ me, bu’ thass wha’ I am!” With that, she promptly beamed at the bird, delighted that she happened across the picture, and that she was in there. Awesome!
~~~~~~Word Count: 402 Words Song: What If by Simple Plan Note: Sorry for the wait! But if you're having trouble with it, do you want to have the thread wrapped up? Vivi can have to go or something, because she doesn't want to get caught by her guardians, so she can skedaddle out of there and poof, done. Or we can muddle on, your choice. C:
